Open Doors World Watch List 2021

13 January 2021 By davidacgrant Leave a Comment

On 13 January MPs heard directly from Amina (from Nigeria) and Father Daniel (from Iraq) about the issue of Christian persecution.

You can catch up now, with the video below – and why not share with your MP, if they weren’t able to attend?

World Watch List Resources

The World Watch List is Open Doors’ annual ranking of the 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution. These free resources will help you stand with your persecuted church family in prayer and action.

Appeal for Volunteers to help with Coronavirus Vaccinations

17 December 2020 By davidacgrant

Dear Basingstoke One Church,

Basingstoke Voluntary Action have been asked to support the recruitment of volunteers to assist with the local Coronavirus Vaccination efforts. Over the next 3 months the NHS will be holding days at a central location when they will be arranging for people to come in and receive their vaccination.  Volunteers will be needed outside and inside the building to meet and greet people and show them where they need to go.

We don’t as yet know the full details so we are reaching out to find out whether any of the Basingstoke churches would be  interested in volunteering and if so, when people would be available.  When we know full details we will then contact you again.

If any staff or those they live with are classed as Extremely Clinically Vulnerable then it is of course safer that they don’t volunteer at this time.

Kind Regards
Sarah Williams
Volunteer Support Officer
Basingstoke Voluntary Action

If you or anyone you know is interested in helping please contact Sarah directly [email protected]

Walkabout Nativity

11 December 2020 By davidacgrant

Saturday 19th December 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Saturday 19th December 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Visit St Michael’s, St Mary’s, Trinity and London Street URC and meet:

  • Some innkeepers who have been struggling with the crowds in Bethlehem and are so full they have even to send one young couple expecting a baby to their animal stable.
  • Some wise men who have been, and still are, travelling from lands afar following an unusual star.
  • Some shepherds who have had a surprising and rather shocking visitation whilst out on the hillside tending the flock.
  • Mary and Joseph who will be in a tatty outbuilding tired from their journey but also delighted at the arrival of Baby Jesus safely laid in a manger.
