Encouraged by our local MP and various organisations, the vision of a Basingstoke Foodbank was born and opened its doors for the first time in October 2012.
Part of a national network called the Trussell Trust, Basingstoke Foodbank provides food packs to those who find themselves in a situation of crisis need.
The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.
The Service
Basingstoke Foodbank doesn’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The Mission
The following three phrases encapsulate ALL Basingstoke Foodbank do and hope to offer:
- Restoring Dignity – Showing empathy and respect for those experiencing crisis.
- Reviving Hope – Promoting the message that God loves and cares for those in crisis and can bring hope where there is none.
- Building Community – Enabling the wider community of Basingstoke and Deane to partner with us in supporting those in crisis, through donations of food, money and time.
