Prayer is central to our vision to see the church encouraged, equipped and empowered to bless Basingstoke and the surrounding area.
The aim of Pray in May is for followers of Jesus to walk every street in Basingstoke and Deane and to pray for every home and business in our town. We’d love as many people as possible to be involved! It’s really easy for individuals or groups to join in. All you need to do is download the Oikos Outreach app using this link http://pray_basingstoke.oikosoutreach.com Having installed the app join the ‘PRAY BASINGSTOKE‘ Group, pick your streets, and then pin each street when you have prayed there.
If walking down the streets is difficult for you then spread out a map or bring one up on your phone and use that to help you pray for streets near where you live. If you are unable to record your praying on the Oikos App for any reason please email contact@pray4basingstoke.uk and let us know where you have been praying. Please also use that email to share with us stories of what God is doing during this initiative.
Our prayer is quite simply that every home, business, school and college will know the Peace and Hope, Love and Joy of Jesus. When you pray we would encourage you to include those words as you bless people. We have written a prayer that you can use if you prefer that to praying your own words.
Heavenly Father,
Bless Basingstoke with Peace and Hope, Love, and Joy. Let children flourish, the vulnerable receive compassion, women and the elderly feel safe, minorities be welcomed, businesses thrive, healthcare providers relieve suffering, and educational institutions empower students. May police and law enforcement administer justice and councils govern wisely. Above all, let residents experience Your mercy and grace.

We are printing postcards which you can post through the doors of the people in the streets you pray for. This lets them know that you have prayed for them but also invites them to reach out with more detailed prayer requests.
There is also a flyer which you can share with other Christians to encourage them to get involved.
