Did you know that we have over 200 Afghan Refugees and other Asylum Seekers occupying three of our town’s hotels? Some are well educated and speak good English whilst others have no English at all. Some are likely to be here for many months to come and it can be quite a grim existence.
What can we as Christians in our town do to support these folk? Maybe you are already aware of them. Maybe you are already supporting them in some way. Maybe you are totally new to this and would like to find out more. Let’s get together to talk this through and see if we can put together some co-ordinated plans.
Please come to the Sarum Hill Centre, Sarum Hill RG21 8SR on Thursday 9nd December starting at 7.30pm and see where we can take this. If you cannot make the meeting but would like to know more or are already involved in some way and would like to share this, please contact Andy Taylor at AndyT@bccnet.org.uk.
In the meantime, we have had an urgent request for clothes for those at one of the hotels. These include shoes jumpers, T shirts, sweatshirts, joggers, denims, coats, scarves, hats, gloves and socks. These are all for men except for one lady and one nine year old boy.
Please contact me if you can help at Andyt@bccnet.org.uk.
