24 hour retreat for Church Leaders in Basingstoke and Deane and surrounding areas.
The 1CB leadership team have booked an overnight retreat for church leaders. We will be joined by Clive Burnard who will take two teaching sessions entitled ‘Leading Like Jesus’ looking at humility in leadership’.
THE VENUE: the Hampshire Christian Trust (www.hampshirechristiantrust.org.uk) site at Lockerly Water Farm near Romsey.
THE DATES: Tuesday 11th July 12.00pm to 2.00pm on Wednesday 12th July.
THE PLAN: a whole day away to spend time with God and fellowship with others. This will include:
– Lunch time barbecue on Wednesday
– Worship and teaching
– A meal out together
– Time and space to be alone
– Opportunities for walking
– Fellowship with other leaders
The accommodation will be in cabins, so they are basic and you will need to bring a sleeping bag or a single duvet, sheet and pillow but there are hot showers and toilets on site. There is limited wi-fi and phone signals tend to be poor so it will be a great opportunity to shut off completely from ministry.
The cost for retreat will be £30.00 (£15 if you only join us for one of the days) in addition to the cost of your evening meal out together on Tuesday evening at the Mill Arms which is only a short walk away.

PEN PORTRAIT of Revd Dr Clive G Burnard
Clive recently retired as a Regional Minister with the Yorkshire Baptist Association, where he had a role in serving and overseeing (37 of…) the 100+ Churches. He was also called to encourage all the Churches in ‘transitioning and transformation for effective, fruitful mission’, and also oversaw the larger Churches within the Association. Previously, Clive’s final pastoral appointment was at Mutley Baptist Church, Plymouth at the end of September 2018, where he served as Senior Pastor/Team Leader for three years following long pastorates at Andover Baptist Church, Hampshire and Christchurch Baptist Church, Dorset, where he planted three new Churches.
Married to Marilyn for 46 years, they have three children and seven grandchildren. He has served Jesus around the world through preaching, teaching, training leaders and teams – in 15 countries on six continents, and also across 9 nations via radio and TV. Clive has mentored Church and other leaders at local, regional, national and international level and has served the Baptist Union of Great Britain and also the Baptist World Alliance as a Council member. He served the BWA as part of the Evangelism and Ministry Commissions, dealing with missionary imperatives and initiatives and with excellence in ministerial development, respectively.
Clive’s first degree was in Zoology and Psychology (he was a scientific atheist until the age of 32!) – and his Masters in Theology (following three years at Moorlands Christian College, studying Biblical and Applied Theology) was in the area of Deliverance Ministry and Spiritual Warfare. His Doctorate considered the leadership of Jesus: Transformational Servant Leadership. Clive remains passionate about Jesus and his Church generally and local, national and global mission more specifically! He currently Co-hosts and speaks on an Alpha Course, for his local Church, which has seen 74 people attending. He wants to see truly missional Churches equipping Whole-Life Disciples, who reach their full potential in Christ and play their part in lovingly and compassionately reaching well beyond their Church ‘premises’, into the UK and other nations of the world, bringing transformation to others and society, through the love and Gospel of Jesus. A keen sportsman, Clive was still playing Hampshire League cricket until 2015 and played his last (but not final?) game of rugby under floodlights, on his 60th birthday!
